The Tower Obby Sub-genres Reference is how we define our games at Towerable.
A Tower Obby is the easiest to define. Technically, all the sub-genres below can also be matched to a Tower Obby as it is non-specific identifier. The game must be an obby and must be a tower. It is the simplest sub-genre here.
Stage Tower Obbies (or Tower Stage Obbies) are commonly thought to be large tower obbies with checkpoints; as opposed to regular tower obbies which usually have no checkpoints. There's no fine line between the amount of checkpoints required to make it a tower stage obby, but most towers with checkpoints are considered to be Stage Tower Obbies. A stage is defined as the obby gameplay between the current checkpoint and the next checkpoint.
